Sales ~ 4 Ways to Develop Guts in Business and Just Do it!

Can people develop the guts and determination to do whatever it takes to achieve in business?

This is a question that most people never ask themselves. It’s all good to learn the greatest sales presentations and techniques by attending numerous training courses, but what good are they, when you can’t even muster up the courage to go out there perform to utilize all that knowledge. How do you develop the mental toughness to get into the arena and perform?

My motivation is not the proverbial happy go lucky positive thinking or the soft affable monotonous motivational talks.  I have the confidence and I motivate myself every morning when I wake up.

I am extremely motivated by the pain of failure, not meeting my personal and professional obligations. Anthony Robbins said it right think of what will happen if you do not take action today. Will you lose your home? Not have enough income for family vacations? Have lack of funds for retirement?  Have no capital for family emergencies.

Do yourself a favor stop making excuses, and step up to the plate and just perform. You must develop a back-bone plan. How beneficial are all those specific specialized training courses you and or your employer have wasted thousands of dollars on and you have yet attempted to implement any of them.

You must develop a "COURAGE PLAN" to compete.  Business is very competitive and mentally draining endeavor. You must develop the mental toughness of a top competitor such as a world leader, top CEO’s and athletes. Start by asking your self this question. What will happen to me if I do not act today?

(#1) Write down the worse case scenarios, post it where you can see them every day.

(#2)  Implement a simple easy to stick to strategy. Set goals on how many sales calls you will make daily, networking events you will attend weekly, how many business cards you will give out. Be careful with setting goals do not set your self up for failure. Start with a small easy to act goals first. Goals you know you can achieve without undue stress.

(#3) Start by contacting people you already know and get comfortable with a sales pitch you have created. This will help you develop the confidence daily to get the toughness needed to move to a more productive arena.

(#4) Develop a dogged attitude, meaning not yielding, giving up or relenting.

The Physically Fit Millionaire

The Millionaire Mind written by Thomas J. Stanley, PhD surveyed 733 millionaires. They were asked to rate thirty success factors. A couple of factors that contributed to their success were (1) having extraordinary energy (2) being physically fit. Through the years I’ve been impressed by the work and family success of my clients.  They were CEO’s, business owners, fortune 500 executives and top sales and marketing professionals.

Not only did they excel at their professions, they trained extremely hard in the gym. They ate better, stayed consistent in their cardiovascular exercises, burned through their strength training workouts and stayed extremely active performing in such sports as golf, racquetball, basketball, tennis and other sports.

Working out has many more benefits than just pure (vanity) what a person looks like. The many benefits improve your ability to perform daily work and home tasks and think more clearly.

I discovered these high performance beings were definitely on a different planet than people who do not stay physically active. They were energized, more focused, and mentally tougher. They took better care of themselves and realized that being physically active was key to increasing their capacity to cope better with stress.

Some of the most successful people have discovered that being fit not only adds to their looks but it’s also responsible for helping them perform at higher levels at work and home.  Many people are smart, but most of people that stay active are living life with more vigor and able to accomplish their daily workloads / tasks easier. They are not only successful and smart, but tougher, fitter and the most disciplined of them all. http://cpc.benefituamerica.com/

Stress is More Than Candlelight and a Bath

Deadlines, competing for deals and other work challenges are when you must step up and take it to another level. This is when it is necessary to respond at a higher level, thereby working within a heightened stress level.

Stress is a state, which evokes a generalized physiological response in the body to physical, psychological, or environmental demands.  It can cause many different physical reactions: difficulty breathing, muscle aches, headaches, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, forgetfulness, irritability, and /or turning to smoking, drinking, and even drugs.

Throughout life, everyone encounters both good and bad stressors, and while stress isn’t always negative and bad, it can be when you are constantly exposed to it without building immunity and finding ways to recover.  Reducing stress requires a lot more than a hot bath by candlelight and just hoping you can wash it away.
